Great Lake Taupo Scenic Cruises
It wouldn’t be a trip to Great Lake Taupo without some exploring on the lake or along the mighty Waikato River. A scenic cruise is the perfect way to enjoy the water and Taupo’s stunning vistas.
Spot hidden bays as you glide across crystal clear water on your way out to the famous Maori Carvings at Mine Bay, an impressive ten metres high and only accessible by boat, or cruise up the Waikato River to view the Huka Falls from the water.
There are plenty of different companies at the Taupo boat harbour who offer cruising on the lake. Go sailing on the Barbary or Fearless, or motor along on the Ernest Kemp or with Chris Jolly Outdoors, or alternatively hire a Taupo charter boat.
Relax with a drink while you enjoy the scenery and if you’re here during the warmer months be sure to take your togs for a dip over the side of the boat. Sunset cruises are an amazing experience, kick back with a glass of wine, watch the sun sink over the horizon and listen to the water lap against the side of the boat.
Join us on Taupo's most popular 2 hour Rock Carvings Cruise. Departures are at 10.30am and 2pm every day, year round, in all weather, sit inside or out. At 4.30pm there's a Cocktail Cruise with complimentary drinks and pizza. (1.5 hours April 2016).
The beautiful panoramic views of Great Lake Taupo. There’s no better way to experience this natural wonder than on the water itself. For a truly unique sailing experience – Sail Barbary to the Maori Rock Carvings or enjoy a Private Charter.
