Great Lake Taupo Restaurants

Several local Great Lake Taupo restaurants have won the prestigious “Beef and Lamb Cuisine Award” and if you want to try something a little out of the ordinary, look out for a fare of wild food dishes. While you won’t find trout on the menu most restaurants are happy to prepare and cook your own fresh catch, just call ahead to let them know.

The Great Lake Taupo region is also proud to produce Taupo Beef, the first locally produced beef that has been given the environmental ‘tick’ from Waikato Regional Council. This endorsement recognises that the beef was produced in a manner that protects the excellent water quality of Lake Taupo. This grass fed, free-range beef is aged for a minimum of four weeks before it is sold at selected restaurants and outlets in Taupo. Look out for it and taste the difference.
