Ski Mount Ruapehu - Whakapapa Ski Facilities

Both Whakapapa and Turoa ski fields offer a range of facilities from cafes, to rentals, retails shops and child care.

Childcare

There are currently no childcare facilities at Whakapapa ski field, however, there are weekend and winter school holiday ski/snowboard programmes available. Turoa ski field is home to Yeti Kids' Centre, a fully licensed childcare facility for two to five-year-olds. 

Ski/Snowboard Workshops

Both Whakapapa and Turoa ski fields have ski and snowboard workshops. The Whakapapa workshop is located next to the Rentals exit at the Top of the Bruce. The Turoa workshop is situated at the south end of the base building. All the usual services are offered - view the full pricing schedule.

Retail Shops

The retail shop Vertical @ Mt Ruapehu has stores in the base areas of both Whakapapa and Turoa ski fields. Both stores stock a wide range of outerwear, streetwear, helmets, eyewear, hats, gloves, footwear, souvenirs and other accessories, so you’ll have everything you need to take to the Ruapehu ski fields. Note that the shops do not sell ski or snowboard equipment, but these can be rented on the mountain at both ski fields.

Cafes

There are a variety of cafes at both Whakapapa and Turoa ski fields, for when you need to take a break. Relax, kick back and indulge in breakfast, lunch, coffees, appres ski drinks and nibbles.

Medical Centres

The clinics are open seven days from 8.30am to 4.30pm during the New Zealand snow season when the ski areas are open. Staff are highly skilled in acute medical care. The medical centres employ four nurses, three radiographers and up to four doctors each season.
