Two (2) Day Leisurely Break in Taupo

Day One

Aratiatia Dam

Arrive mid-morning and head out to Aratiatia to join the Huka Falls River Cruise on a purpose built riverboat to the mighty Huka Falls. You will arrive back in time to view one of Taupo's top 10 attractions the opening of the dam at Aratiatia where the narrow gorge fills with turbulent water for a short time.

Call in to Lava Glass where you can view the captivating process of glass blowing and walk around the new sculpture garden with more than 500 glass sculptures in an acre of grounds. Relax in the café for a bite to eat.

Enjoy the afternoon visiting Orakei Korako, a hidden thermal valley of colour, hot springs, geysers and natural beauty.  If you have time on your way back in to Taupo visit some of the attractions in the Wairakei Park such as the Honey Hive or the Volcanic Activity Centre.

Check in to your accommodation at the luxurious Hilton Lake Taupo or Millennium Hotel and Resort Manuels Taupo.

To finish the day relax in the natural mineral waters of Wairakei Terraces or Taupo De Bretts Hot Springs and maybe indulge in a Taupo spa treatment while there.

Day Two

Tongariro National Park

After check-out drive down to the boat harbour and hop on Chris Jolly and meander the northern bays of Lake Taupo while enjoying a delicious Sunday Brunch on board.

Head along to Taupo’s Floatplane and experience the sensation of taking off and landing on the water as you head off to view our great lake the volcanoes of the Tongariro National Park by air. A truly memorable flight.

Before you head off home stroll up to a great Taupo tourist attraction - the Taupo Museum filled with Taupo District stories, Maori treasures and art gallery.
