Visit Great Lake Taupo for ADVENTURE
With more than 30,000 jumps per year, Great Lake Taupo is the skydiving capital of the world, with the largest commercial drop zone and best value in New Zealand.
Jet boating to the base of New Zealand’s most visited natural attraction – Huka Falls, or over rapids on the Waikato River – is just like rafting in a jet boat.
Taupo has the only water-touch bungy in New Zealand over the Waikato River.
The Great Lake Taupo area is home to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing - rated as ‘the best one day trek in New Zealand’ and listed by many as one of the 'top 10 day treks in the world'. Hike through the ‘Land of Mordor’ and you can even pay homage to Mt Doom (Mt Ngauruhoe).

Mountain bike the Great Lake Trail or the Waikato River Trail, one of New Zealand’s great rides. There are over 200km of mountain biking trails throughout the area of Lake Taupo and the free draining pumice soil makes it a year-round biking destination.
The Great Lake Taupo region is home to two of the biggest biking events on the annual cycling calendar - the Contact Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge, which attracts 10,000 + participants riding 160km round the lake, and the 12 hour Taupo Day Night Thriller which attracts 3,000 mountain bikers.

Tongariro National Park was the first place in the world to be listed as a dual UNESCO World Heritage Site for its landscape and cultural values. There are only a few places in the world that have dual UNESCO World Heritage status.
