Ticketek sales to move to My Music
Sales for Ticketek events are being moved to music retail store My Music to make the booking agency more accessible to customers.
Events manager Steve Giles said moving the Ticketek sales from the council-owned Great Lake Centre would mean it was easier for those customers who chose to purchase tickets over the counter. Mr Giles said My Music was Taupo’s only independent music store and stocked CDs and vinyl that would complement ticket sales, particularly with the number of music events held in Taupo and ticketed by Ticketek.
“It’s also a great way for us to support a local business while providing an improved level of customer service,” he said. “The staff at My Music are passionate about music and events and are keen to take on the job.” Another advantage is that tickets would now be available seven days per week, Mr Giles said.
My Music is centrally located on the corner of Tongariro and Horomatangi streets. The customer service desk at the Great Lake Centre will close on July 1 when the relocation takes place. Customer inquiries about the Great Lake Centre will be redirected to the council’s Lake Terrace offices.
The move will also create efficiencies as the Great Lake Centre would no longer have to operate its customer service desk five days a week.
“We saw the relocation of the Ticketek agency as a great way to make savings,” Mr Giles said. “We will still have the Ticketek Box Office open for an hour before events at the Great Lake Centre for last minute tickets.”
The transfer to My Music will mean the Great Lake Centre does not need to be open unless it is hosting a function or event. This would save money on operating costs, Mr Giles said.
The council and My Music will be working together over the next few months to ensure a smooth transition.
From July 1 all Ticketek inquiries should go to My Music on 07 378 2844 or Ticketek directly on 0800 TICKET (0800 842 538).
