Taupo’s A List Fashionistas Shop at Z Boutique!
Hey there Blogreader....nice of you to swing by for my latest literary offering of the Taupo Shopping, Dining and Leisure type persuasion.
Hang on a minute....I’m having a vision....You love shopping don’t you? Clothes in particular are your weakness am I right? Haha, you’re still reading so I’m on the right track at least. I’m going to cut to the chase here.....the very fact that you are here reading my blog tells me that in no uncertain terms you are clearly a highly discerning individual. You don’t take yourself too seriously. You’re quirky with a strong sense of fun. You think outside the box and you are pretty comfortable in your own skin. If the clothes fit and fit well, you completely rock them, no question. You can’t help it, you are fierce and fabulous baby, you’ve got it goin’ on!!!!
Here in Taupo, we are lucky in so far as we have a wide range of clothing outlets catering for all tastes and budgets. From well known high street brands (Pagani, Annah S, Just Jeans and Jay Jays to name a few) through to independent ‘niche’ boutiques (such as KILT, Hi-Fashion, is this love? and Milly Black) there is something for every forward thinking Fashionista all situated within tottering distance of each other in the Taupo CBD.
“Fashion is not necessarily about labels. It’s not about brands.
It’s about something else that comes from within you.” — Ralph Lauren
I don’t know about you, but my personal style has never been primarily about where an item has come from. For many though, designer labels equate to quality, attention to detail, and expert craftsmanship. However nothing, in my opinion, beats the thrill of stepping out in an outfit that costs you small change, but looks and feels a million dollars. It is at this point we say: ‘Enter the ‘Win-Win Situation.’ Taupo has recently welcomed a new kid on the shopping block and guess what? You can get your designer label fix without breaking the bank. I give you...Z Boutique.
Located on the corner of Tongariro St, where it joins Spa Rd, Z Boutique is the brainchild of long time friends Leigh Mohi and Gill McKinstrey who saw a gap in the Taupo market for affordable, pre-loved designer and high end label clothing and accessories. The idea for the business was brought to life one night over a glass of wine and seven days later the doors opened for the first time in February. Yes, it’s fair to say these chicks are mega motivated and they most definitely have an infectious belief in their new venture.
The boutique itself offers an intimate, personal shopping experience. Their main point of difference is the ever changing window displays featuring show stopping items a whopping 85% of which are NZ sourced. Well known labels frequently in stock at Z Boutique include: Trelise Cooper, Guess, Vonzipper, Stax and Diesel. I must confess one of the things I like the most about a shop like this is that its contents are not just generic and mass produced. You won’t find anyone else shimmying down the street in a matching frock.....the very thought!!!!
Alongside an eclectic mix of fashion items, a browse around the boutique could unearth a delightful treasure from their imported jewellery collection (Ooohhhh....shiny things.....) or perhaps the growing array of new and both retro and restored home furnishings on sale might throw up that ‘special’ piece you’ve been searching for. You definitely can’t rush a trip to Z Boutique for although in terms of size and actual floor space it is, let’s say compact don’t be fooled into thinking there isn’t much there. You’ll find plenty to feast your eyes upon and whet your fashion appetite.
Whatever you’re looking for, even if it’s nothing in particular, there is definitely that no pressure, feel-good, mooch around at leisure vibe at play here. You are encouraged to try things on, pick things up, ask questions and so on. The mere act of searching through the racks of one off items is a pleasure in itself. Tactile is good here and that my Blogfriend is more desirable than any designer label.
