DGLT is partnering with Tourism New Zealand, RAL, and Visit Ruapehu this winter for a $250,000 trade and direct to consumer winter ski campaign into Australia.

We have wholesalers who are hungry for Taupo product – and will soon have consumers looking for deals through

We’ve developed a simple step-by-step cheat sheet to help you provide trade and consumer with what they’re looking for this winter. Can you afford to not be part of this?


1) Develop Product
  • What is your product offering specific to trade?
  • Deals / trade combos – do you have a special winter rate, perhaps a stay 7 pay 5 or value add deal?
  • Rates (nett) – what is your bottom dollar?
  • Content – great imagery and video that helps promote your product
2) Once you have developed the above, send to wholesalers and to Maggie Sando at

Direct to consumer

1) Develop Product
  • What is your product offering?
  • Deals / combos – do you have a special winter rate or perhaps you’re keen to partner with another operator to develop a combo package?
  • Rates – what is your rack rate?
  • Content – great imagery and video that helps promote your product
2) Load your product and/or deal to
3)  Load to your own website
4)  Promote through your social media and marketing channels

We’ve also drafted a list of words and key messages you might want to consider using in your marketing blurbs for winter:

  • We offer drying room facilities | ski and snowboard storage | bike storage
  • We offer airport transfers | transport to Taupo CBD for ski transport
  • We offer apres ski (mulled wine, open fire etc)
  • Taupo is an outdoors paradise, so you’ll never be short of things to do, even when the snow’s not on!
  • Taupo is located just 1hr 15mins from New Zealand’s largest ski area, Whakapapa and premier learner’s facility, Happy Valley Snow Park. Both are easily accessed with daily transport from Taupo town centre
  • Ski passes range from single day passes, multi-day flexi passes, and season passes which are valid for both ski areas. Passes can be purchased online, at participating outlets or at the ski areas. Packages, rentals and private sessions available
  • Mountain transport from Taupo to Whakapapa is available daily on the half hour, so you can take all the hassle out of getting to and from the mountain, relax, and enjoy the stunning scenery along the way
