The Birches Homestay

This traditional and historic home was built and named by Bert Boulton, one of the famous inhabitants of Turangi who wanted a quiet escape from the bustle of large city life.

In the last seventy years it has been extensively renovated and modernised without compromising the original style.

Close to the world-renowned Tongariro River, it is a charming residence in a quiet street set amongst mature trees. This unique setting provides exceptional access to tramping, fly fishing, skiing, rafting, or purely an escape from a hectic world.

You will enjoy superior and spacious en suite accommodation with TV and coffee/tea-making facilities in a separate part of the house. Your Dutch/Canadian hosts traditionally welcome you with a pre-dinner drink and can advise you on the many activities and features of this special holiday region.
