If you are looking for peace and quiet, Wairakei Terraces Hot Pools will be your best best as the natural thermal springs are adults only. Their pools of varying temperatures are strategically positioned below the silica terraces and waterfall, taking full advantage of the geothermal water flow that is drawn to the earth’s surface from 1.5 kilometres underground.
A favourite amongst backpackers, the Otumuheke Stream at Spa Park is a hot stream that flows into the Waikato River and creates natural hot pools. Just be careful of your belongings and try not to bring anything valuable. More hot pools can be found dotted along the lake front. Look out for steam or ask any of our friendly locals.
