Swimming Pools
Great Lake Taupō is a year-round water destination. As well as lakeside activities, there are some fantastic swimming pools - including thermally heated pools that can be enjoyed all year round.
Visitors are spoilt for choice with hot pools and have a choice of thermally heated mineral pools based around the region to enjoy.
Taupō Hot Pools - DeBretts
76 Napier-Taupo State Highway 5, Taupō
As you enter the pool area on cool days, a blanket of steam rises from the waters - an inviting sign for you to come in and enjoy the warm hot springs. Taupō DeBretts hot mineral pools are fed by a natural geothermal spring, the Onekeneke, which bathers have been enjoying for both relaxation and medicinal purposes for over 120 years. The hot volcanic waters are cooled down to temperatures ranging from 38 to 42°C (100 to 108°F). The rich mineral components of the water are preserved for optimum health benefits.
You’ll enjoy 2 large mineral pools complete with inviting waterfall, lush landscaping and bubbling hydrotherapy spots to work those tired muscles. There are 12 private mineral pools ranging in temperature for your comfort and convenience. The perfect entrée to a therapeutic massage or body treatment at Living Waters Spa.
In the Summer months Taupō DeBretts caters to all holiday-makers. Cool off in the fresh water pool and spa pool. Have fun with the kids on the popular Dragon Slide and interactive water play area. Lounge on the pool side deck with a good book or enjoy a barbeque with friends and family at one of the many picnic areas.

AC Baths
Corner Spa Road and AC Baths Avenue, Taupō
AC Baths is the ideal family place to visit in any weather and has facilities for every member of the family to enjoy. Providing hot and warm pools both thermally heated and hot thermal mineral pools with completely natural water – pure bliss.
There is a huge outdoor leisure pool linking to the indoor pool so you can swim indoors and outdoors without having to leave the warmth of the thermally heated water. There is plenty to keep the kids entertained with hydroslides, a bombing zone, inflatable pool fun and a tarzan swing.
Located just 4 minutes from Taupō Town Centre, the pools are a thermally heated swimming complex the whole family can enjoy. Ample free parking is available.
Facilities include leisure and training pools, private thermal pools, hydroslides, sauna, family and disability changing rooms, security lockers and cafe.

Spa Park
Spa Road, Taupō
The natural hot springs in Spa Park are considered a hidden gem. The hot springs are made up from a hot stream that flows into the Waikato River and creates natural hot pools. The further you get from the stream the cooler the water as it mixes with the Waikato River. Swim around to find your ideal temperature. Conditions vary depending on the rainfall. A popular FREE swimming hole for visitors and locals.
Tokaanu Hot Thermal Springs
Mangaroa Street, Tokaanu
Relax in the soothing and therapeutic waters of Tokaanu’s Hot Thermal Springs, situated just a few kilometres west of Turangi, in the tiny township of Tokaanu (look out for the steam)! A visit to the pools is the perfect way to enjoy the day with family and friends, and learn more about the historic and fascinating thermal area. You can enjoy the large public pool which is heated with fresh chlorinated water to around 36oC- 37oC or choose from one of the family sized private natural mineral pools which range from 39oC- 41oC. For the kids, there is a special pool heated to 36oC with fresh chlorinated water situated right beside the main pool.

Genesis Energy Turangi Aquatic Centre
Turangi Town Centre
The Turangi Aquatic Centre, situated in the centre of Turangi, provides hours of enjoyment for visitors and the community. The indoor heated facilities include a 25 metre leisure and training pool, a 1.8m deep activity pool, a learners pool and a toddlers pool.

Mangakino Community Pool
Mangakino Town Centre
This family pool is a great asset to the Mangakino community, popular with both locals and visitors. The pool is heated by solar and gas but is closed during the winter months. It opens about mid October and closes around Easter (weather permitting). It is manned by a staff of fully qualified Lifeguards and assistants.

School Term: 3.30pm to 5.30pm weekdays and 1.00pm to 5.00pm weekend
School Holidays 1pm – 5pm (closed Christmas Day)
