Events Capital of New Zealand
There is no other place in New Zealand who hosts an event like Great LakeTaupō. The annual calendar of events include the International Ironman; New Zealand’s biggest one day annual event with competitors from thirty eight different countries. The Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge, with over 11 thousand riders completing the 160kms around Lake Taupō. The community support of these and other sporting events are second to none.
Beyond the athletics, other yearly events highlight arts and culture, food and wine and festive seasonal celebrations. Concerts, theatre, performing arts and great nightly entertainment are just a few things you can expect. There is always something different to see and do when you visit the region.
