Taupo – get ready for a Big Day Art!

Erupt Events are gearing up to host the 2nd annual Big Day Art event in Taupo this March. The Big Day Art will showcase the depth and scale of local Taupo talent across a variety of artistic genres.

Big Day Art will showcase an incredible mix of different groups and individuals who will be sharing their skills, talent and enthusiasm with the Taupo community for free.

The Big Day Art maximises the different spaces available at the Great Lake Centre with a variety of performances and events scheduled throughout the day.

In the Theatre from 12noon to around 2pm, audiences will be entertained by live music and dance presented by some of Taupo’s many and varied performance artists.

The Main Hall will be transformed into a Creative Expo, with over 30 different exhibitors including fine art, photography, music groups, wood turners, weavers and paper artists. The Expo is a great chance to check out the many different groups offering fellowship, classes and workshops and is a wonderful way to explore your creative side and maybe pick up a new hobby or join a new group.

As well as the Expo, Big Day Art will also provide some hands-on opportunities to participate, including workshops and talks - including hip-hop dance classes, drawing workshops and a talk on how to make art a business.

A new addition to the programme for 2013 is the creation of a gala evening performance, called 'Big Starry Night'.

The full programme (including session times for performances and workshops) will be printed in Taupo Times on Friday 8 March, and will be available here from Monday 4 March.
