The Other Story

Email to a friend »

Libby O’Brien is a local reporter who has gone back to the people she has previously interviewed to find the real stories her interview subjects have to share.

Emotional, funny and real, these stories are accompanied by photographs giving a behind-the-scenes insight into people’s lives.

Libby, 26, grew up in Taupo where she attended Tauhara College and spent much of her spare time in her senior school years in the photography darkroom. She went on to gain an arts degree from Victoria University of Wellington before travelling and spending time in Perth, Australia and then Glasgow, Scotland. Wherever Libby goes she takes her camera and has captured a range of images in many countries covering some very different subjects.

Taupo Museum is also offering two opportunities to meet Libby and hear her speak about her work.
On Saturday 18 August at 11.00 am Libby will speak as part of the Grabit Great Lake Tales series and on Tuesday 21 August at 11.30am the Friends of the Taupo Museum are hosting Libby as part of their monthly lunchtime talks. Both events are free.

Find out more about Libby at libbyobrienphotography.wordpress.com and follow her on Twitter at @libbyobrien.

Libby would like to thank Creative Taupo, Taupo Museum and Grabb for Image Excellence for their assistance in making this project a reality.
