As the Events Capital of New Zealand, the Great Lake Taupo region is constantly a buzz with sporting, cultural, community and family festivals. We had a great months of Winter events and we look forward to more great Spring and Summer months. Year round don't miss the International Ironman - New Zealand’s biggest one day annual event with competitors from 38 different countries - and The Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge, with over 11,000 riders completing the 160kms around Great Lake Taupo. Locals and visitors alike are out in force to support these iconic events. Arts and culture, food and wine and celebrations are just a few things you can expect - there is always something different to see and do when you visit Taupo, Turangi, Tongariro and Mangakino.
